Autistic, How Silly Is That?

Future Horizons: Arlington, Texas, 2012

This is a terrific book for the child with an autism spectrum disorder who is getting "hung up" on or over-identifying with the label of autism. It quickly and humorously puts labels into perspective: one small feature/characteristic amongst hundreds that describe each unique human being. I also recommend this for siblings and peers in assisting them in understanding where the autism label fits in. The beautiful, Eric Carle-style illustration is sure to capture and maintain the delight of children while teaching this valuable lesson.
